Brothers and Sisters, today IAM Director of Apprenticeships, Jim Reid, presented our apprenticeship alternative program to the company, the Industrial Manufacturing Technician Registered Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship offers both entry-level and
incumbent workers the opportunity to demonstrate that they have acquired the skills increasingly needed in the technology-intensive jobs of the 21st century.
We also had Vice President of Employee Benefits Systems Inc., Galen Bullock, present the Machinists Custom Choices to the company. It was explained that the beauty of the Machinists Custom Choices Supplemental Benefits program allows members to select the benefits that are best suited for their own needs and fund those benefits through payroll deduction. As the program does not create a cost to the employer, adding the Machinists Custom Choices program to labor contracts is attractive to both the union and employer.
Ivana Huang, Raytheon Corporate Benefits Representative, presented the company’s benefit package for the bargaining unit. The benefit package is typical and of course there are proposed cost increases. We will be in economics soon and will present our proposals to the company addressing these cost increases we have experienced in healthcare. Open enrollment will be held off due to negotiations.
